Hebrew Benevolent Society of New York

The annual election of this society was held on Sunday the 23d of April, when the following gentlemen were elected officers for the current year: M. M. Noah, Esq., President; H. Robert Lyon, Vice President; M. John Levy, Treasurer; and Messrs. Louis Lyons, A. H. Lissak, and Geo. S. Mawson, Directors. Previous to going into the election, the President read the following report:

April 18, 1847 Cash in the Treasurer's hands, $85.76
  Moneys received during the year, 2788.20
   
    $2873.96
     
April 23, 1848 Moneys expended during the year, $2679.32
  Balance in the Treasurer's hands, 194.64
   
    $2873.96

The Directors are in daily expectation of the amount of nearly $500, being the nete proceeds from the last ball given in aid of the funds of this society, which sum will be invested for the permanent fund.

The permanent funds of this society consists of the following:

Bond and mortgage, $3,000
New York State Stock, 1,000
Five lots of ground 500
